Charm City Circulator Celebrates Second Anniversary With Four Million Milestone

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation is proud to announce that the Charm City Circulator has serviced over four million passengers. Baltimore’s premier shuttle service has proven to be a huge success for residents, employees and visitors traveling in the busy downtown district. Last week, the City of Baltimore celebrated the second anniversary of the Charm City Circulator with a four million passenger milestone.

“The City of Baltimore is proud that the Charm City Circulator has served over four million people in only two years,” said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of this innovative shuttle service which helps to reduce the number of vehicles in the busy downtown district.”

The Charm City Circulator’s Orange Route began operations on January 11, 2010 and runs from Hollins Market to Harbor East. Then on June 07, 2010, the Purple Route was launched. This extended Circulator service to Penn Station and Federal Hill. Operations on the latest Green Route began in November, 2011 and includes service to City Hall, Fells Point and Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Over four million passengers have utilized Circulator buses in the busy downtown district and beyond. This figure well exceeds initial ridership projections and response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Charm City Circulator is a fleet of eco-friendly buses that travel in the central business district. The energy-efficient shuttles are designed to reduce greenhouse gases while offering a reliable and convenient mode of alternative transportation.

The Charm City Circulator has also played a significant role in helping to build stronger neighborhoods and businesses within the city. Growing communities in Baltimore are now joined by the Circulator service, and citizens have a convenient, clean and reliable mode of alternative transportation. Best of all, the Charm City Circulator provides free service for everyone.

The City of Baltimore encourages residents, visitors and downtown employees to take advantage of the Charm City Circulator to experience all that Baltimore has to offer.
